Criminal ‘to do’ list

Evan Dorsey was on the terrace now lighting a smoke and thinking about the scribbled note in his pocket. He’d only managed half of the items he’d written down. He still hadn’t found any crystal meth or robbed a drug dealer. He hadn’t even sold drugs yet. Now the Boston police had him for stealing insulin from a UPS package, number five on his to do list. “You telling me,” the police officer said, “you don’t know who this black jack belongs to?”

Evans looked at the metal tool he’d used to pry open the door and shrugged his shoulders.
