“Let’s take this slowly,” Officer Braden said. “Go ahead and empty your pockets.”
Joseph Hall Jr shifted his weight onto his right foot, saying, “I’m innocent in all this.”
“Yeah, I heard you say that already,” Officer Braden said, tapping his finger onto the counter. “The sooner we get started the sooner you’ll be outa here.”
“You think?” Joseph said, knowing things were about to get worse. “She say anything to you?”
Officer Braden looked up. “You mean your wife…? No, she didn’t say anything.”
Joseph pulled his hand from his pocket and put his wife’s ear onto the tray.
